Land tenure for forest landscape restoration and sustainable land management

Land tenure – and specifically customary land tenure – is often ignored in Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) initiatives. Yet customary systems are what determine how people make decisions about land. This project worked with communities in Madagascar and Cameroon to develop a tool that helps FLR practitioners throughout Africa understand and address land tenure challenges for restoration - together with communities - and build their initiatives from local preferences and practices.
